Laguna Shores Preparing for Christmas Food Hampers

Laguna Shores Preparing for Christmas Food Hampers

It’s hard to believe that October is almost gone and Christmas is right around the corner. Usually I take offense to Christmas being pushed on me months early, but when you are trying to donate to needy families in Rocky Point, Mexico, you have to be organized and get things done early. If you have never been involved in a charitable event here at Christmastime, it can be a madhouse – so preparation, organization and patience is needed!

As you may know, every year at Christmastime, Laguna Shores holds a Christmas give-away with the help of generous donations possibly made by you. For seven years, Laguna Shores has hosted a day of giving where Puerto Peñasco children receive a brand new bicycle. This program has been incredibly successful because of your continued generous contributions. Bikes of all sizes were given away – hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of them. It is so sweet to watch children receive a brand new bicycle. I don’t care how old you are, you remember waking up Christmas morning and seeing that shiny new bike under the Christmas tree. I remember mine. Actually I remember my brother’s because it was way cooler and I couldn’t ride a bike yet!

The bicycle give-away has been a great program for 7 years, but since the economy has devastated many local families, Laguna Shores decided last year to do something that would benefit the entire family as opposed to just the children. So, they started a “Christmas Food Hamper” gift basket last year. I admit, I was confused as to why families would need a “hamper”, but in plain English it is a Christmas food box (duh). The Food Hamper give-away was met with great appreciation and success so they would like to continue the tradition this year.

Now comes the part where you can help…Laguna Shores needs your help to make sure that no family in Puerto Peñasco goes hungry on Christmas Day. They appreciate that times are tough for everyone, but they hope that you can find just a little extra to help with their Christmas Food Hamper. Every little bit is greatly appreciated and all of it goes to their Christmas program. Laguna Shores does all of the work, but they just need a little help from their friends. Any amount you can donate will be much appreciated. You are welcome to come and watch or volunteer this, or any year.

Please know that your donation is greatly appreciated and put to very good use. As in past years, anyone donating $500.00 USD or more will receive a 10-night vacation at Laguna Shores Resort; a master planned oceanfront community, just north of Rocky Point, Mexico on the Coastal Highway, with lots of amenities and activities. If the donation is made by November 18, 2012 we will add a 2-night bonus. Split them up for stocking stuffers or a nice gift for someone at work. Lead time is required to order the hampers so we are asking that you send your donations early, we hope to be ready to deliver by November 30th.

To donate to this year’s Laguna Shores Christmas Food Hamper Program, please send your check payable to Laguna Shores GCC. In the memo line, please put “Christmas Food Hamper” and send to:

LAGUNA SHORES GCC
PO Box 1740
Lukeville, AZ 85341

Or you may make a donation by using your credit card by calling our offices at 1-800-513-1426 or locally at (638) 383-4670. You can also donate through our PayPal account at paypal@lagunashoresresorts.com (no personal PayPal account needed).

This year we are adding a Facebook fundraiser campaign to help spread the word. Please encourage your family and friends to donate and help spread the word through the Laguna Shores Christmas Hamper Give-Away 2012 campaign at http://bit.ly/SiPwIl.

Thank you one and all for helping the less fortunate. I wish you all the best for this coming season and the New Year!
