From Phoenix, take I-10 West to Maricopa, then AZ-85 South to Lukeville; after crossing into Sonoyta, continue on the coastal highway (toll or free road) to Puerto Peñasco. From Tucson the drive is about 2.5 hours, and the resort sits roughly 65 miles south of the Lukeville/Sonoyta border crossing. That makes it one of the closest oceanfront resort destinations for visitors from Arizona and the southwestern United States — no flights and no connections required. Before you go, make sure you have a valid US passport, a Mexican tourist card (FMM, available online in advance or at the border), and Mexican auto insurance, which is required by law. The final stretch, from downtown Puerto Peñasco to the resort, takes about 15 minutes.

You rarely need to make the trip, though: the resort has its own restaurant, Infusion del Golfo, a full-service spa, a fitness center, and the Laguna Mini Stop convenience store stocking snacks, beverages, toiletries, and beach gear. Puerto Peñasco is a perfect year-round destination with sunny, dry weather. The area averages only 10 days of rain per year with an average humidity of 60%, and records 365 days of sunshine. Average year-round high temperatures reach 83.7°F (28.7°C), while the cooler season ranges from 50–73°F (10–23°C). Winter, from December through February, is comfortable and mild — peak season for Arizona snowbirds, and ideal for hiking, birdwatching, and fishing. Spring brings perfect weather along with the year's largest crowds during Spring Break and Semana Santa, so book well ahead. Summer is hot, but the sea warms to ideal swimming temperatures and crowds thin out. Fall, October through November, is one of the best times to visit: mild temperatures, quiet beaches, and competitive rates. You'll enjoy warm beach days in summer and comfortable, mild winters.

Our beachfront resort sits on the Sea of Cortez — a calm, protected body of water sheltered from strong winds and currents. The Sea of Cortez is home to 900+ islands and reefs that serve as nesting sites for thousands of seabirds, and its rich waters support over 30 species of marine mammals including dolphins, sea lions, and whales. Jacques Cousteau called it "the world's aquarium." It also has one of the largest tidal fluctuations on Earth — roughly the third-largest, swinging up to 27 feet at extreme high tide, with the tide coming in and going out at least twice a day. That rhythm shapes the day here: high tide is for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking the estuary just west of the property, while low tide uncovers tide pools, shells, and clams across a wide expanse of exposed sand. Gray whale migration peaks in January and February.
