Laguna Shores Resort sponsors 2 boxing championships on August 17, 2013, here in Puerto Peñasco. One fight is for a North American title and the other is for an Intercontinental title. The event is being promoted by Jesús Soto of Promociones Soto, a local professional boxing promoter. In total, there are 7 fights, two championships, and 3 professional debuts.

Two local boxers are fighting for the belts: Javier "El Rebelde" Carrera against Augusto "El Veneno" Gámez for the WBF North American Championship, while Linda "La Muñeca" Soto fights against Kareli López for the WBF Intercontinental Championship.

Local boxers to watch during this event are: Javier "El Rebelde" Carrera, Linda "La Muñeca" Soto, Eliud "El Tyson" Ortega, and María "La Chacalosa", who is making her professional boxing debut.

Elihu Soto and David Benavidez are boxers from Phoenix, AZ. These two debuts are highly anticipated due to their family backgrounds and their trainers. Elihu Soto has been a 4-time US national amateur champion and holds numerous Arizona state championships. Meanwhile, David Benavidez's brother is a recognized boxer who has even trained with Freddie Roach, and many believe David will be the next world champion in the super middleweight division.

Luis Zarazua comes from Texas and is fighting against Jesús Pérez, from Mexicali.
