Many may think that the "Day of the Dead" is a day of mourning, but it is actually a day of remembrance, honor and celebration. It is not the Mexican version of Halloween, but a serious day when family members gather to visit the graves of deceased children and adults and bring offerings and decorate their graves. Here in Rocky Point, the cemeteries are crowded with family and friends visiting the graves of those who have passed. The entire family gets together and spends the day decorating with flowers, cleaning and repairing graves, lighting candles, praying and offering or placing favorite items of the deceased.
