Great holiday gifts and a relaxing vacation awaits you in Rocky Point, Mexico

Great holiday gifts and a relaxing vacation awaits you in Rocky Point, Mexico

You can get all of your Christmas shopping done, and have a relaxing weekend vacation at the same time, simply by coming to Rocky Point, Mexico. Christmas time shouldn’t be stressful, so ditch the crowded malls, busy streets and frantic shoppers and come find everything you need right here. Guaranteed whatever your budget is, you can find great gifts for everyone on your list and even take some homemade tamales back to Santa.

Some of my favorite places to find unique gifts are art galleries and stores like Eddie Wharez, Mercedes Rusticos, Galeria del Mar Bermejo, Victoria’s Hormiga, Casa Bonita, Hacienda del Sol, and Galeria Luis y Gaby. Rocky Point is full of great shopping take Rodeo Drive and the Malecon – now what can you NOT find in those two locations? Great for budget shopping with small trinkets like ornaments, shot glasses, t-shirts, shells, silver jewelry and lots of novelty items. Want to spend a little more? Look for great sets of margarita glassware and general glassware. They have some beautiful designs and sets.

There’s also a wide variety of ceramic figurines, table wear, Day of the Dead dolls, Talavera pots, plates and wall hangings as well as fountains, luggage and higher end silver jewelry. Feeling spendy? The ever popular pig skin table and chairs set, exotic metal wall hangings and the list goes on and on. Want to pamper someone? What about a gift certificate to La Spa de Peñasco where they can spend the entire day feeling like a million bucks. Have a favorite restaurant? Ask them if they have gift certificates available – most do and they make great gifts for family and friends who visit Rocky Point or who would like to visit. What a great way to introduce them to your favorite vacation get-away. A one-year subscription to the Rocky Point Times Newspaper is a must for any Rocky Point lover – delivered right to their mailbox, once a month, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada – or any other country. Here are a few places you may not have thought of…

  1. The Tequila Factory – a huge variety of tequila plus souvenirs and unique items
  2. CEDO Gift Shop – fantastic, one-of-a-kind items with a sea theme from ornaments to cards and books – you could probably get all of your shopping done here
  3. JJ’s Cantina – No Sniveling license plate – everyone needs one! Plus other stuff like caps and shirts
  4. A donation in someone’s name to charities such as the Laguna Shores Gift Hamper, The Santa Claus Club, Guardian Angels, The Animal Adoption Center, etc.
  5. Victor Aleman’s Artisan Village – World renown spray paint artist does some amazing works of art and his village is full of wonderful whimsical fountains, sitting benches, pots, huge iron statues and everything you could ever need to decorate your yard or garden

If you have an ocean lover on your list or someone who likes interesting things here are a few great gift ideas that require little work: sea shell shadow boxes, glass lamps filled with sea shells, vases or jars filled with shells, the sand dollar split with doves coming out and the poem in a shadow box (you can buy these in town). These may sound plain, but once you put them together they are fantastic. Here are some pictures of what I have done with some of the shells I’ve collected.

I purchased the glass lamp at Wal-Mart or Target for $19.99 USD and filled it with shells I have collected over the years. This may be a bit much to do, but look for cool vase shapes or old jars or bottles and fill them with shells. The bubble Genie jar pictured holds most of my best (or favorite) shells. I actually bid on the jar on eBay. It was full of matches (yes, I have a matchbook collection as well) and I won the jar filled with matches for $11 USD and that included shipping. Everyone comments on my jars of yellow and orange shells. I have a few vases filled with layers of the shells and you can start with smaller vases, jars or whatever you find. All of those yellow and orange shells (I have yet to look their name up in my shell book) I found here on the beach at Laguna Shores Resort.

You could spend a weekend out here, especially at low tide, and come away with beautiful gifts that cost very little. So, come spend a relaxing weekend at Laguna Shores Resort, pop into town on Saturday for some lunch and shopping, and in a few hours you will be back relaxing by their 5,000 sq. ft pool with palapa bar. Take a couple hours off and then hit the beach to look for your shells. You can venture to other beaches as well for different shells. So many great gifts are available right here in Rocky Point.

And, if you stay at Laguna Shores Resort, or want to, you can always purchase gift certificates for get-away vacations, massages, pedicures, manicures and the restaurant as well. Want to really surprise someone special – how about a Vacation Package or a fractional share? That will surely be the best gift under the tree, besides the shell lamp, of course.
