Rocky Point’s Best Chefs Compete for the 2013 Iron Chef Title

Though not as commercialized at TV’s Iron Chef, Rocky Point’s title of “Iron Chef” is a most coveted position for the chef’s who compete in this popular annual event. Most all of the chef’s own their own restaurants here in Rocky Point, Mexico, so holding the title for the year gives them bragging rights. And, of course, everyone who comes to Rocky Point will want to stop by the restaurant that the 2013 Iron Chef owns or the restaurant he or she works for. Though it may seem small to the status TV stars receive, Rocky Point’s Iron Chef title is indeed a great title that chef’s wear proudly in this once small fishing village turned vacation paradise. So, it’s no surprise that hoards turn out to this fun event every year. The Iron Chef Competition also runs in conjunction with The Taste of Peñasco, a place where restaurants feature their food and patrons can taste each and every one and where local businesses and artisans can sell their wares.
The Iron Chef Competition and The Taste of Peñasco will be held this year at the “Shrimp Park”, which is located in the center of Rocky Point, Mexico on the corner of Blvd. Fremont and Benito Juarez – across from the Municipal Building on Saturday, February 16th. The events are a shoppers wonderland and food connoisseur’s dream with many local restaurants serving up special fare for the event and lots of businesses showing off their wares. It is definitely a social gathering where, even if you go in not knowing anyone, you’ll leave the event with new friends. That’s just the way Rocky Point, Mexico rolls.
There are raffle tickets for sale if you want to be one of the judge’s of the Iron chef Competition and there are also raffle tickets available for many goods, services and vacations being raffled off by local businesses. The latter tickets are available at the event or at Latitude 31 and are 6 tickets for $20 or can be purchased individually.
